Apple Story Hour

Yesterday was story hour at our house, and the theme was apples. After reading books with the 3-4 year-olds (and one almost 3-year-old), we had apples for snack...
And then painted apple trees with our fingers...
Even Isaiah made a tiny tree, of which he is very proud...
Distracting little Asher...
And then they all made their own apple pie... what fun!
Silas, very intent on getting the dough just right...
Judah's piece of dough...
And after the pies were completed, there was enough leftover dough to squish and nibble!

Thanks to all for coming over to learn about apples!

Finishing Outside Projects...

Having a few kids around is great for getting projects done...

Like father, like son...

Judah William

Judah, the 'fireman' or 'mailman' or 'librarian', or whatever he was supposed to be that morning...
And here he is bathing a doll after dinner...

All 3 watching Uncle Mike saw through our wall, preparing for our new french doors...

Preschool is ALWAYS fun...

...especially when it involves making play dough and creating masterpieces with it!
Isaiah gets his share...
Yup, the vacuum came out after we were done...
Here is Selah's old man, or island, or mountain or church, or whichever of those things it was supposed to be...
And below is Judah's... um... er... I can't remember what it was supposed to be, but I'm sure it was something!

Home Preschool

Every moment is a teaching moment for a parent, but we also have special moments in our day. We call it home preschool.
Homeschooling comes with its challenges, but the joys and benefits so far have outweighed all the challenges.
Selah proudly displaying her outlining abilities...
...and even during 'play time', Selah is often occupying herself with 'school' stuff.

Our Little Girl...

...has never ever had her hair cut. Ever. And when it's wet, it almost reaches her bottom. She's watched Daddy and the boys get many, many hair cuts. But it's never been her turn. God gave her beautiful curls, and we weren't ready to part with them yet. But last night was time. And who better than Aunt Michelle to give Selah her very first hair cut...
Hair blowing...
The final trimming...
And a picture with Mommy (who also got her hair cut last night)...

-Sigh- Sometimes it's hard to see our kids grow up- but very exciting at the same time.

A Day to Remember...

Yesterday we went apple picking with some great friends. Here we are standing on top of the hay pyramid...
And walking down the rows, looking for apples...
Isaiah kept pointing out all the apples on the ground since the trees were over-picked. It took us a while to find apples on the trees...
But we did find some, way up high. And they were good, even in today's apple pie!
Then we took the hay ride to the pumpkin patch. Isaiah thought he could carry every big one in sight...
Dave & Michelle...
The kids...
Enjoying a wagon ride...
Here's a rock for you, and a rock for you...
A play land full of corn- cleaner than sand! Uncle Dave is burying Selah...
Julia's turn. I just love that smile!!
Waiting for the pony rides, munching on home-made doughnuts- yummm!
Judah's turn!
Selah atop "Goldie"... The weather was gorgeous!

The Goofs!

Thanks, Mr. Potato Head!

Church Family Picnic

We made it back from vacation in time to attend our church family picnic, and the weather was beautiful. Duane had to work, but he joined us for the last hour. I see I took mostly kid shots- typical, I guess!

Here's Tia and Rebecca watching the soft ball game...
And Konnie with more kiddos...
And here's a little fellow that melts my heart. Is it possible to fall in love with your own children? Maybe it's because he looks soooo much like the man of my dreams...

Judah really, really, really loves these two little boys. "Jacob and Silas are my friends." I don't know how many times I've heard that statement!
Judah and Juliet- try saying that fast 10 times!
My children have no clue how to swing a bat, but a big thanks to Uncle Dave and Uncle Daryl for providing the experience...
(I love this shot of Isaiah & Uncle Daryl below- sooo serious!)

Oh, Uncle Mike!
How many kids can we fit on a rock?
I give Mr. Touw credit for trying to teach these 2 little boys how to swing a bat!
Yeah! Daddy's here- to play goalie in his work clothes. At least he switched his shoes!
