Yes, the water irresistably pulled this little boy down into its grasp and would not release him until he was mud from head to foot (in that order)! Again the water and mud won. You would think he'd learn by now, wouldn't you?
Some may wonder what his mother was doing with a camera so soon after the battle- I was innocently coming outside (after satisfying the needs of the littliest one) to join the rest of the famiy in the fresh air. My camera was in my possession because Judah looked adorable walking behind his Daddy as Duane mowed the lawn. That picture was never taken!
Needless to say, Mommy didn't get much time outside today- baths were much more important.
...those are the mercies of the God we serve. Welcome to our little corner of the world wide web where we can quietly share some of those mercies that our Lord sends our way.

On Daddy's Lap
Daddy's lap is still big enough! We are all getting over hopefully the last cold of the season. Nothing serious, just snotty noses, empty tissue boxes, a bit more tears, and lingering coughs. On such days we count our blessings with thanksgiving that our kids have no major illnesses and we remember in prayer those parents who deal with special needs or chronically ill children daily.
We also had a great foretaste of coming summer months- it was up to 94 degrees for a few days in NJ, so out came the new summer outfits (of course last year's don't fit). Thanks to Grandma R. we were all prepared!

A Time to Be Still and Know
It was only one night, but it was so special. It was quietness. It was togetherness. It was a time to be still, to break away from the ordinary busy-ness, to know that God's faithfulness is still great.
We took our bikes and navigated the 'hook'.
Sandyhook is a bird migration stop, especially for rafters this time of the year.
Here's an osprey arranging her nest in the chimney of a deserted Fort Hancock building.
A view of NYC from the top of the lighthouse.
