Fishing with Julia

Our camping date was rained out, so in between the rain storms last Friday we went to a park to go fishing...some threw bread to the fish...
...others fed themselves!
Julia is quite the fisherwoman, showing Selah and Judah how to catch algae...

...and how to catch minnows from her Daddy's bait bucket! Julia calls the minnows her friends, loving & stroking them to the point of expiration:-)!

And here's the hard core fishermen, but the fish just were not biting (Dave did catch a sunny).

After eating supper under the pavilion, with little hands getting dirtier every minute with the rain and mud, we ended the evening with a group bath...

...we spent the day with Grandma at the beach.

Our 'lover boy' enjoyed the water very much, but it was tough to explain that lake water and sand is not for consumption.

All in a day...

I guess today was an animal-filled day, for as we were finishing lunch we spotted a big mama bear with a cub nearby.

I only got the picture of the mama since they moved away once they heard us (thankfully).

Enjoying God's Creatures

God's creatures are all so beautiful, so unique, so well designed, and often so 'scary' up-close to a 3 year-old and 21-month-er.We visited a petting farm this morning while Daddy was off. Daddies are always full of great ideas! Here's the cutest rooster on the farm...(and the sweetest face I ever did see on a bird)

After watching Selah get brave enough to feed the animals, Judah thought he might be ready...

Boy meet horse! It takes a bit of bravery to shove such delicious little fingers so close to such a big mouth...

Backyard camping... anybody want to join us?

Since just the thought of camping with 3 little ones is quite tiring, we decided to let our kids experience camping through the comfort of our own backyard this year. The perks: clean bathroom, Isaiah slept in his own bedroom, and a safe retreat should the bears decide to visit. The cons: the thought that our comfortable, climate-controlled bed is only 20 feet away!
