Kitchen Painting Project... to be continued...

So I don't really have any great shots of the finished product (partly because it isn't finished), but here are some shots of the process.

First the stripping of the wallpaper.

For those of you who wish to remember the original look, the wallpaper was black (yes, black) with pink floral patterns (yes, floral!). I did save a tiny section just for old-time sake. But the rest of the wallpaper is decorating some garbage dump somewhere.
Then came the washing of the walls. Duane did all this step. In fact, Duane did almost everything in every step. (Homeschooling consumes almost all of my spare time).
And then the long & tedious step of spackling. The problem with spackling is that you are never done. You will always find one more area that needs a touch-up or another nail to be pounded further in. So much for perfection! Below is Selah spackling over a covered hole.

Then, just the right paint color has to be decided- that may have been the hardest step (and we're still not quite sure...)

Finally, after priming, the ceiling can be cut in...

...and rolled...

After ceilings were painted we could connect our new light fixtures. Like the chandelier below?

Don't get too attached because we're selling in on Craig's list. It was hanging in our formal-dining-room-turned-office/schoolroom. I see I need some photos of the new version.

And while disconnecting our old rose-colored kitchen table light,
this dried up creature surprised us...

The kids have been oh so helpful! From eating wallpaper, pushing paint buckets around, climbing every step stool, rolling around on the drop cloths, eating dried spackle... the list goes on!

And finally, it's time for the color!!! Finished pictures to come... (once we finish)!
